Terms of use

1. About the service

SheenProof is an online tool that analyzes images, video, PDF and Word files and estimates whether they were created or altered by AI. The service is available through our website and, where we offer it, our API.

2. Acceptance and eligibility

By using SheenProof you agree to these terms. If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are allowed to bind that organization. You must be at least 18 years old to use the service.

3. Acceptable use and restrictions

You agree not to:

• Upload files you do not have the right to upload or analyze.
• Upload unlawful content, including child sexual abuse material, or content that violates the privacy of others.
• Use the service to harass, stalk, profile or target an individual.
• Use the service to identify real people from their faces or voices, or as part of a facial recognition system.
• Copy, reverse engineer or try to extract our detection methods, models or source code.
• Use the service or its results to build, train or improve a competing product.
• Use a result to mislead others, for example by passing AI-made content off as human-made, or real content off as fake.
• Use a result as the only basis for a decision that significantly affects a person, such as hiring, firing, legal action or denial of services.
• Run bulk, automated or scraping requests, except through our API with our permission.
• Upload malware, send spam, overload the service or try to gain unauthorized access to it.
• Resell or redistribute the service without our written permission.

4. Your files

You keep all rights to the files you upload. You give us a limited permission to process each file only to analyze it, produce your report and operate and secure the service.

Each file may be up to 100 MB, and one file can be submitted at a time. Files are deleted after analysis. Only the report is kept, as described in our Privacy policy.

5. Your responsibilities for uploaded content

You confirm that you have the right to upload each file and to have it analyzed, and that you have given any notices and obtained any consents needed for the people who appear in it or whose personal data it contains. You are responsible for the legality and accuracy of what you upload.

6. API use

If we give you API access, you must keep your key private, stay within the rate limits we set and use the current version of the API. We may change, replace or retire API versions, and you are responsible for keeping your integration working. Access may be suspended if a key is shared or misused.

7. Paid plans

If we offer paid plans, the price, billing period, taxes and refund rules will be shown when you sign up and form part of these terms. [TODO: remove this section if the service stays free]

8. Feedback

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.

9. Copyright complaints

If you believe something on our site infringes your copyright, email hello@sheenproof.com with: the work you say is infringed, where you found the material, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized, and a statement that your notice is accurate. We review complaints and act where appropriate.

10. Indemnity

You agree to cover losses and reasonable legal costs that we suffer because of content you upload, your breach of these terms or your unlawful use of the service. [TODO: have your lawyer confirm the scope]

11. Third-party links

Our site may link to other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

12. General

These terms and the policies they refer to are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If a part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. If we do not enforce a term, that does not mean we give it up.

13. Results are likelihoods, not proof

SheenProof gives a probability and supporting evidence. Detection of AI-generated content is not perfect. Results can be wrong, including false positives (real content flagged) and false negatives (AI content missed).

Results are not legal proof or forensic certification. Use them as one input in a wider review process, with human judgment.

14. Reports

Each report has a unique ID, a SHA-256 fingerprint of the analyzed file and an optional PDF. You are responsible for how you use and share reports. You must not alter a report or present it as something other than what it is.

15. Intellectual property

SheenProof, its software, design, name and logo belong to us or our licensors. These terms do not give you any rights to them except the right to use the service as described here.

16. Availability and changes

We try to keep the service available, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may change, limit or stop any part of the service, and we may update detection models at any time, which can change results.

17. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by law, we do not give any warranty about accuracy, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

18. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, data or reputation, arising from your use of the service or reliance on its results. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or INR 5,000 if you paid nothing. 19. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or misuse the service. You may stop using the service at any time.

20. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in Pune, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction, unless the law requires otherwise. [TODO: confirm with your lawyer]

21. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the new terms.
